A letter to the community

Thank you — truly, thank you — to everyone who voted for me, and to the entire community for supporting me through and through. You gave birth to my public life, and I'm here to keep having more and more conversations. 💛

Congratulations to Councillor Wilson Lo on his re-election.

I sent him my wishes and all the best for the term ahead. Kudos!

This wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I said I wanted to inspire change, but I always respect people's decisions. One thing that does upset me is the low voter turnout — 34%. I hope we can all come together to educate more people on civic engagement and why voting matters.

You might see more of me, though. Once things settle down, I'd love to keep pushing on the non-stop express bus petition and the ServiceOntario and Service Canada offices I've been advocating for. I've already shared this with Councillor Lo, and I believe they'd make a real difference for residents. If any of you want to get involved, please reach out!

Overall, this has been quite a journey — and honestly, a blessed outcome for a first-timer like me. If anyone is thinking about running in 2030 or any future office in Ottawa, please connect with me. I'd be happy to share what I learned so your path is a little easier than mine was.

I'm also continuing door-knocking with the OWN provincial team, so you'll be seeing me again soon. 😄

Personally, I learned that being accepted by the larger community is harder than you'd imagine — and sometimes you get love and support from places you never expected. Many people opened their doors and hearts to talk to me. Some didn't, and that's completely understandable. I'm going to reflect on all of it, learn, keep asking questions, and keep working for the betterment of our community.

Also — I'm out of shape from all the fast food and junk I ate on the campaign trail. Time to get back in shape! 😅

Thank you to my incredible volunteers, my family, the community leaders who believed in me, the mosque and temple communities, the business owners, and every single person who opened their door, shared a conversation, or simply encouraged me along the way. From the bottom of my heart — thank you.

Election Day

The 2026 Municipal Elections will take place on October 26, 2026. Eligible electors will have the opportunity to vote for their choice of Mayor, City Councillor, and School Board Trustee.

All electors will be required to present a piece of identification in order to receive a ballot at their voting place. The identification must show your name and address and photo identification is not required. A list of acceptable ID is available by viewing the Voter identification page.
